LOHSS CONSTRUCTION

Building custom homes since 1993.

The work is shaped by materials, site conditions, and the people involved.

Not by a single style.

Some projects lean into reclaimed timber, stone, and traditional methods. Others are more controlled, using steel and glass to open to the landscape. Most fall somewhere in between.

The approach stays the same.

Understand the site.
Use the right materials.
Build it the way it should be built.

THE MATERIALS

“I’m a bit of a wood nerd. I like old wood… the challenge of creating something new out of something that already has a life.”

Material choice is not a finish decision. It starts the project.

Reclaimed beams. Hand-hewn timber. Stone that carries through the structure. Steel that handles span and alignment. Each material is used for what it does, not just how it looks.

A lot of that work begins before construction.

Sourcing. Dismantling. Reclaiming.

A lot happens in the yard before anything reaches the site.

Materials are brought in, sorted, and worked through the shops. Reclaimed timber is cleaned up, milled, and re-cut. Steel is fabricated and fit to the project. Pieces are selected and prepared for how they’ll actually be used.

It allows decisions to happen early and carry through the build.

The shops are part of how the work comes together.

They make it possible to handle complex material work, coordinate details ahead of time, and avoid solving everything in the field. What’s worked out early tends to hold through the rest of the project.
